Viator

Viator is great for general tours, activities and sightseeing trips and takes out all the hassle of planning a trip. We have used it for countless number of tours, such as ‘skip the queue’ at the heavily-visited Vatican City, Malta to Gozo day trip or the Orlando Kennedy Space Center.

Simply type in your destination in the search bar and filter by date and price. You can choose from a private tour, small tour or group tour. Often, you can choose to pick up from your hotel.

After booking, you will be sent your Viator voucher – remember to print this off for your tour as you might not be allowed on the tour without out.

Remember to check your emails also, as you often need to confirm the hotel you are staying at for pick up and also the local tour guide will need to get in contact with you to arrange time of pick up.

We’ve also found that this company is great to get in contact with on the day of the tour in the event your guide is late. Customer service no: 020 3318 0421. You will just need to cite your book ref no.

Lastly, be wary of couple private trips as the price changes sometimes from the search results to the basket price.

The only downside of going on group tours is if some one is late, this of course eats into the time you get to spend at a place. Similarly, you might not get as much time as you want at a place as you need to keep to a schedule.

We have found that sometimes the journey time to a destination doesn’t warrant the amount of time you actually get to spend there. For example, we spent six hours on a small, crammed mini bus in China to see Leshan Giant Buddha in Sichuan to only stay there for under two hours. Our guide had actually planned to spend some of this time eating in a local restaurant. We opted out of doing this, as did others.

Therefore, Viator has its perks – it is well priced, hassle free and you do get value for money but if you want to spend a great amount of time somewhere, this might not be your best option.

However, if like us, you do a lot of city trips, then Viator is a great choice as you can see the most popular sites in one day – though early starts are a must! 💤💤💤
