Leshan

  • Transport:
    • Chengdu to Leshan takes 45 mins by high speed train
    • You can catch a bus from Emei Tour Passenger Transport Center (12 Yuan) or from Chengdu Xinnanmen station (46 Yuan) to Leshan Giant Buddha, stopping at Leshan Xiaoba Station. You can then take a taxi or the No.13 bus (1 yuan) to the Giant Buddha stop

  • Tips:
    • If visiting Mount Emei, you can spend a night under the mountain and get up early to take the bus to Leshan Giant Buddha the next day
    • Generally, most hotels in the area can transport you to the buddha, and costs around 15 Yuan pp
    • Once you arrive at the park, you’ll pay at the entrance and collect a ticket (90 Yuan pp) before climbing the steps. BEWARE: this attraction has a lot so steps, so take plenty of water and allow enough time to complete this walk (around 2-3 hours)
    • A good visiting route is as follows:  Giant Buddha, Mahao Cave Tomb and then Wuyou Temple
    • The buddha has huge crowds and can get busy, so prepare well in advance
    • If climbing isn’t your thing, you can see the Giant Buddha by ship (30 Yuan pp). Visitors can also take ships to Chongqing and other cities in Sichuan Province like Yibin, Luzhou
    • The boat has capacity for 25 people and takes around 15-20 mins (Yuan 70 pp)
    •  At the park’s entrance, tourists can find both Chinese and English tour guides (around Yuan 100)
